J&J subsidiaries LTL Management filed a bankruptcy plan in New Jersey late on Monday that describes how the company intends to pay for different types of cancer victims as part of a bankruptcy settlement. The company is trying for an additional time to conclude more than 38,000 lawsuits filed in bankruptcy and prevent new cases from coming forward in the near future.
The bankruptcy plan of LTL would pay $400 million into an additional trust to settle claims brought with state attorneys general alleging that J&J was in violation of the state’s unfair commercial practices and consumer protection laws by misinforming consumers about the security of its talc-based products.
