J&J affiliate LTL Management filed a bankruptcy plan in New Jersey late on Monday that details how the company will pay various types of cancer victims as part of bankruptcy settlement. Hyperbole was not spared by the victims’ lawyers, who call it the biggest “fraudulent deal ever in United States history.”
Despite the legal jargon, J&J does not really think that the bankruptcy will endure. But it’s a way to try and push the $8.9 billion settlement, and to keep the pressure on plaintiffs.
