Johnson & Johnson asserts that bankruptcy is the only option to deal with both present and future talc litigations in a definitive manner. Lawyers representing cancer victims who do not agree with the agreement counter this argument by saying that it is countering legal nonsense legal nonsense: J&J fraudulently transferred $50 billion of assets away from LTL Management to circumvent the appeals court’s ruling. Hyperbole did not go unnoticed by the victims’ lawyers, who call it the most significant “fraudulent deal of assets in United States history.”
