J&J subsidiary LTL Management filed a bankruptcy plan in New Jersey late on Monday that describes how the company plans to pay different kinds of cancer victims in a bankruptcy settlement. April 13th, 2023 Update: big announcement is an $8.9 billion over the next 25 years offer for settlement. April 10, 2023 Update: Bloomberg is running an intriguing article about a new law in New Jersey that is shedding new light on litigation funding in the baby powder Class action suit. Funders for litigation Virage Capital Management and TRGP Capital invested in hundreds of lawsuits against Johnson & Johnson (J&J) concerning talc products in exchange for a portion of any winnings. J&J has now offered that it will pay $8.9 billion to settle lawsuits.

The involvement of the funders is public knowledge because of the New Jersey court rule requiring the disclosure of certain information about funders outside the state. The rule aims to respond to the increasing calls for the regulation of litigation funders.
