Johnson & Johnson asserts that bankruptcy is the only way to deal with both present and future lawsuits involving talc conclusively. That is, it believes that it will be less expensive if there is an element of bankruptcy that puts pressure to negotiate a settlement. Talc powder cancer men. Funders for litigation Virage Capital Management and TRGP Capital invested in hundreds of lawsuits from Johnson & Johnson (J&J) regarding talc products, in exchange for a percentage of any settlements. J&J is now offering an offer of $8.9 billion in settlements for all lawsuits.
The involvement of the funders is publicly available because of the New Jersey court rule requiring the disclosure of certain information about funders outside the state.
